Government subsidies regarding farming is the government paying farmers to produce certain crops, such as corn. They effect a free market because farmers are now not growing a vary of crops. This is bad because the government should interfere as little as possible. The government is there to make laws and make sure people obey them, and if they don’t discipline them. By subsiding crops they are overusing their power and getting involved with things they are not their business. It is bad for our country because it is taking away how America runs freely.

I think that this movie has really showed us how cruel some of the animals are treated as they are being raised. I know that this is showing the extremes, but it is still terrible. I think that animals should be treated better, because they have feelings too and we need to respect them. I also think it is bad of the companies to give out ten names a day to the police so that they can arrest the illegal immigrants because it is shady. But they are still illegal immigrants and should not be in our country. Government should be in our lives as little as possible, so it is wrong that they are trying to push themselves in another way in the crop subsidies. This pushes corn to be fed to animals that would not normally eat it. I also think it is wrong that Clinton, Bush, and Obama have appointed former food company CEO’s as major parts in the FDA. Our dependency on oil is horrible. Not only are there ways that are more environmentally friendly, but ways that can help to create more American jobs. We are dependent on foreign oil and are supporting the same people who are terrorists. If we founder better ways to get energy we could create more jobs, thus helping us to get out of the recession. The main way that we can help to make a difference in the system is to but foods that are created in a good manner. For example Stonyfield Farm products are now being sold at Wal-Mart. If people would not have bought the yogurt it wouldn’t be there. Consumers play the biggest role in food companies so we have the power to change things that we see need to be changed.

I am not sure if drugs should be legalized or not. Cigarettes are another thing that is really bad for your health but it isn’t illegal. I think if drugs are illegal then cigarettes should be too. Some drugs, like marijuana, should be legal if it is used to as medical treatment, but if it is used for anything else than it should be illegal. A lot of people argue that if it was legal that people wouldn’t use it as much, but they are thinking about right after it becomes legal. People would use it like crazy and it wouldn’t be good. Also if they were legal, people would just use them more because they would be allowed to. If people used them a lot then it would have an even wore effect than it has now because they would be under the influence more; making their life have more problems because they aren’t concentrating on school, work, or their family. If they are legal there should be an age limit.

My name is Rachael Harrington and I’ll be 16 in August. As a hobby I like to ride and show horses. I also like to hangout with my friends and I enjoy playing with my puppy Muffin. Blogging is not one of my favorite things but I do think that it is an affective way of grading. I think that people could just as easily share their ideas in class during a discussion. I hope to learn how to be healthier in this class. I also hope that I can learn new activities from this class. In life I would like to attend a nice college and then go onto a good job that I like, but my main goal is to be successful and live a happy life.
